If you're anything like us, you need a little bit of help navigating away from the same old box sets and could do with the right recommendations.

So, here is a list of binge-worthy, provocative and yes, even cringy shows you can binge RN Enjoy.

Real Housewives of Durban

First we had Jozie, and now we have Durban and these ladies do not disappoint. Expect beef, shade and everything in between as we get up close and personal with Sorisha Naidoo, Ayanda Ncwanz, Kgomotso Ndungane, Nonku Williams, Anne-Toni Ludick Mthembu and Nonkanyiso Conco. It is all drama all the time and we love to see it.

Ginny & Georgia

I will not be saving the best for last this time. If you deny my sage wisdom, at least take this one recommendation. This is an enjoyable mother and daughter drama and has been my fave binge in a while. If you've ever struggled with issues of identity and remember the agony of being a teenager you'll relate to the angsty fifteen-year-old Ginny Miller and her over-the-top mum, Georgia.

Unorthodox

Unorthodox is dark but the necessary kind so it's okay. We can all relate to the effects of extremely entrenched patriarchy along cultural and religious lines. Unorthodox picks this up and puts it on a heavy dose of steroids while featuring a young ultra-Orthodox Jewish woman who flees her arranged marriage and religious community to start a new life abroad. We watch her as she fights for her new liberation and way of life all on her terms. It's all-girl power that simultaneously invigorating and heartbreaking.

Behind Her Eyes

BHE combines two of some of my favourite things, sci-fi and British storytelling which often requires a bit of patience if I am being honest. It stars Simona Brown who has an uncanny resemblance to Issa Rae and with a bit of the personality in the role to boot. It's the placement of a black female lead who is non-stereotypical for me. Plus the plot twist is MIND-BLOWING.

Queen Sono

Pearl Thusi plays a complicated, action-packed badass agent in this unusual depiction of a Mzansi femme fatale. You'll root for u-Pearl as she plays Sono, you'll envy her poise and beauty and may occasionally cringe at her lines. Nevermind, this is still definitely worth it in the end! Even if it's future hangs in the balance.

Dirty John: Betty Broderick Season 1

Disclaimer, this is based on a true story which makes it even more delish! You will love, cheer on Betty Broderick as she self-destructs because let us be honest;  which woman can't relate to self-sabotage and life-changing heartbreak turned scorn? Never mind the infuriating chauvinistic references and comments from the 80s and 90s. Those painstakingly remind us how far we've come.
