Aren't you sick and tired of being sick and tired?

Sometimes we just can’t afford to stay the same. But when we look around and we are bombarded with all these images of Instagram fitness models then we look at the image staring back at us in the mirror, we start telling ourselves that losing the weight is impossible, and we give up before we even started. Wouldn’t you love to look in the mirror and see what you love? A version of you that boosts your moral, adds confidence and allows your lifestyle to reflect what’s on the inside out?

We have a few tips that can help you lose even up to 40kgs in 8 months! Hello swim suit season, here we come! Please my friend, remember to be kind to yourself. Everything is a process. First things first, remember, we did not gain that extra weight in one month, it took time to put it on, it will take time to get it off. Patience and consistency is key! Those abs wont pop in a months’ time, but it doesn’t mean that we give up because we must put in the effort to see the results.

Losing weight is almost like solving world peace for many of us. We have tried many magic diets, and promising products, even gone to the extent of tying our waists like a damsel from the 20’s and none of those things have worked.

Want to lose weight? Here is how you start.

Abs are made in the kitchen.

Yes, the gym is great and pumping iron is very necessary during your weight loss journey, but you must note that only 20% of the weight loss will come from working out and 80% will be all about what is in your kitchen. Here is where we need to do a bit of math. We need to count how many calories we take a day. What we eat and drink have calories. If we want to burn fat, we need to be in a caloric deficit. We can spend a lot of time in the gym but we won’t get to our goal if we are eating more calories than we are burning. Meaning, in order to lose weight, we need to eat less than 2000 calories. Let’s say we have a goal of 1300 calories per day. If you decide to eat a burger with chips and soda, that is about 1200 calories, which is almost your total amount of calories per day. It is very important that you do your research on healthy low-calorie foods. Ideally, we should break down our 3 meals a day to 400 calories each and that gives you a few extra calories for your 2 snacks to keep it at 1300-1500 calories a day. Try to fill your diet with a lot of green vegetables, high quality sources of protein, healthy sources of fat and high fibre carbohydrates. Carbs are high in calories, but we need them for energy so it is wise to reduce our potion and stick to whole grains as much as possible. Mostly focus on a higher protein intake and cut out the junk food for now.  Leave all artificial drinks out. i.e., sodas and packet juices. You also want to reduce your sugar intake completely. Eating clean and healthy is key. Drink at least 2 liters of water a day. On an empty stomach in the morning take a glass of luke warm water with some lemon, and honey if you’d like. This really helps to fast track the process.

Build those invisible abs

Remember that 20%? Here is where it comes in. We need to make sure we exercise for an hour every day in order to burn those calories, build endurance, strengthen and shape our bodies. Hit (high intensity training) workouts give you the best results in the shortest time. In cooperating some cardio would be great. Start by walking fast to get your heart rate up and slowly build up to running. Aim to get in at least 3km per day. Wondering if you ever get a break? Well, Sunday, we take it easy but not too easy. we still need to move our bodies. I suggest some Pilates, stretching and yoga. As you will soon find out, a mix of cardio and weight training daily will keep your body feeling great and get you closer and closer to your goal one workout at a time. Please make sure you get enough rest. Sleep is super important when it comes to burning fat, and giving your body a chance to recover.

Where there is a will there is a way

Do you believe you can? Of course, you can! If you are willing to do it, all you need to do is take that step. It’s not going to be easy but as we know every trial is there to build you for greatness. You have to find your own self-motivation. No one can do that for you. Remember, no matter how your story starts, every day is your chance to rewrite it. Never give up. Make a choice, take a chance and make a change. There’s always room for improvement. When you decide to become a better version of yourself, you commit to sacrifice, discipline, and consistency. Say to yourself, “I am the change I desire. I will not quit on me.” Nothing worth having comes easy. it’s never too late to take control of your life. You are a product of your environment. Get away from people who don’t value change. You need the right mental attitude, focus, good eating habits, consistent exercise and amazing support from friends and family. Now go out and get that perfect bikini and hang it somewhere you can see it every day. You got this!
